Presentation summary

This practical session is aimed at novice to experienced SLPs who treat kids or adults with either motor speech or swallowing disorders. The focus of the session is watch, participate and discuss clinical applications of ultrasound biofeedback in assessment and intervention.

Key messages

1. Able to identify the tongue surface on ultrasound scanning in both sagittal (lateral) and coronal (anterior) views
2. Consider the pros and cons of using ultrasound biofeedback within clinical practice across the lifespan

Tricia McCabe's teaching, research and clinical practice are focused on improving the lives of people with moderate-severe speech disorders through improved assessment and intervention. She has lead the development of Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment (ReST) and is a leader in developing and testing treatments for childhood apraxia of speech and, more recently, cerebral palsy.
