A Growing Understanding of Inclusion: Leading a workplace culture through inclusive client care

12:10 PM - 12:20 PM

Presentation summary

This presentation explores how inclusive client care at A Growing Understanding has shaped a workplace culture of inclusivity, with a focus on practical, real-world applications. Key initiatives include the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan, implementation of neuro-affirming care, and LGBTQ+ inclusion through membership in Pride in Health + Wellbeing and a submission to the Health + Wellbeing Equality Index (HWEI). The HWEI is a national tool designed to benchmark LGBTQ+ inclusive service provision and workforce practices, aligning with A Growing Understanding’s goal of preparing for Rainbow Tick accreditation.

The objectives are to demonstrate how these frameworks and inclusive service delivery models have impacted the team’s approach to client care and workplace culture. Practical strategies such as fostering cultural safety, creating inclusive environments, and adopting neuro-affirming care models will be highlighted. These methods have improved client engagement, strengthened team collaboration, and supported organisational growth.

Inclusive service delivery is central to A Growing Understanding’s values and is essential for creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of the broader community. Attendees will gain insights into how inclusive care can enhance both workplace culture and client outcomes.
