Presentation summary

Background and Context:
In 2021, Autism CRC commissioned the development of Australia’s first National guideline for supporting the learning, participation, and wellbeing of autistic children and their families. The Guideline was developed through a rigorous process according to the National Health and Medical Research Council’s guideline development process. In this workshop, we will explore the implementation of the Guideline in everyday speech pathology practice, with a focus on reflection, responding, and respect.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will become knowledgeable of the Guideline and its relevance to working with autistic children and their families.
2. Participants will develop strategies for implementing the Gudeline in everyday clinical practice.

Assumed Knowledge or experience:
No prior Knowledge or experience is required.

Outline of Activities:
The workshop will comprise a combination of presentation and small group activities, with a focus on participant sharing and creative collaboration.

Implications for Practice:
Participants will be in a stronger position to implement the Guideline in their everyday clinical practice for the benefit of autistic children and their families.
