Getting to MONA

You get to MONA by high-speed camouflaged ferry at $25.00 pp return or catch a bus. Both options travel regularly between Hobart and Mona, departing Hobart Street Pier on the waterfront.

    Tasmanian Museum &     Art Gallery

Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is Tasmania's leading natural and cultural heritage organisation. It is a combined museum, art gallery and herbarium which safeguards the physical evidence of Tasmania's natural and cultural heritage, and the cultural identity of Tasmanians.

TMAG is Australia's second-oldest museum and has its origins in the collections of Australia's oldest scientific society, the Royal Society of Tasmania, established in 1843.

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is open daily between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm from 26 December until 31 March. It is open Tuesdays to Sundays between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm from 1 April until 24 December. TMAG is also open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Monday public holidays year-round.

General admission to TMAG is free to all members of the public. Special exhibits may occasionally require paid entry.

  Salamanca Market

Salamanca Market is Tasmania’s most visited tourism attraction which runs every Saturday from 8.30am to 3.00pm. It runs the full length of Hobart’s historic Salamanca Place.

With over 300 stallholders, you will find a huge selection of locally made products. It is a special place where you can find homemade and home grown produce, enjoy the vibrancy and atmosphere, and discover the heart of a creative island.
